About Epilytics

A Public Health Consultancy Built on Evidence

Epilytics exists to make rigorous public health science accessible, actionable, and equitable — for the agencies, institutions, and organizations doing the work that matters.

Our Story

Founded in 2019, Epilytics began with a simple observation: too often, the distance between good data and good decisions is where public health falls short.

Epilytics is a Virginia-based public health consulting firm operating at the intersection of epidemiology, health policy, and data systems. We deliver analytical, evaluation, and advisory services to clients across government, higher education, nonprofit, and research settings — translating complex data into decision-ready insights that inform healthcare and research outcomes.

The firm is built on more than a decade of federal health consulting experience, including work supporting the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other federal health programs. That foundation — deep familiarity with regulated data environments, federal compliance standards, and the operational realities of large health systems — shapes how Epilytics approaches every engagement, regardless of client size.

We operate with a flexible delivery model, drawing on a trusted network of subject matter experts to scale capacity to each project's demands. That means our clients get right-sized support — the rigor of a large firm with the responsiveness and personal investment of a boutique practice.

Epilytics is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) through the U.S. Small Business Administration, and holds Virginia SWaM certification with Small, Micro, Women-Owned, and Minority-Owned designations.

The Name

Epilytics is where epidemiology meets analytics.

Epidemiology
+
Analytics
=
Epilytics

The name is deliberate. Epidemiology is the science of patterns — how health and disease move through populations, and why. Analytics is the discipline of extracting meaning from data — turning raw numbers into understanding. On their own, each is powerful. Together, they are transformative.

Epidemiology asks the right questions; analytics finds the answers in the data. Epidemiology provides the scientific framework; analytics provides the computational rigor. One without the other leaves insight on the table — a compelling question with no evidence, or a sophisticated model with no meaning. Epilytics was built at exactly that intersection, where rigorous public health science and modern data analysis reinforce each other.

The name has a personal origin. During doctoral training — a program populated largely by clinicians — the founder found herself navigating a gap that felt both frustrating and clarifying: clinicians and public health scientists struggled to understand each other's work. The methods were different, the language was different, the lens was different. But the goal was the same. That experience of bridging two disciplines that complement each other far more than they realize became the founding premise of Epilytics.

That intersection isn't just our name. It's how we work.

What Guides Us

Our Values

The principles that shape how Epilytics works — with clients, with data, and with the communities behind the numbers.

Evidence First

Every recommendation we make is grounded in rigorous analysis. We follow the data — even when it complicates the story — because credibility is the foundation of useful consulting.

Equity as a Lens, Not a Line Item

Health disparities aren't a section of the report — they're a dimension of every analysis. We bring a socioeconomic and community lens to all of our work.

Clarity Over Complexity

Sophisticated methods, plainly communicated. We believe analysis is only as valuable as a decision-maker's ability to act on it.

Right-Sized Partnership

We scale to your project, your capacity, and your budget. No overbuilt engagements, no unnecessary hours — just the support the work actually requires.

Integrity in the Details

From data security to documentation to deadlines, we hold ourselves to the standards of the regulated environments we come from.

Curiosity That Compounds

Public health evolves; so do we. Continuous learning is built into how Epilytics operates — every engagement sharpens the next.

Intellectual Foundation

Research That Shapes Our Practice

Epilytics' consulting approach is grounded in original research spanning environmental health, health systems, and health equity.

Environmental Health Equity

Socioeconomic Status & Public Water Quality in Virginia

A quantitative correlational study examining census tract-level socioeconomic indicators and public drinking water quality violations across Virginia — integrating EPA Safe Drinking Water Information System data with U.S. Census Bureau datasets. This doctoral research reflects the firm's core methodology: rigorous secondary data analysis in service of health equity questions.

Global Health Systems

Comparative & Global Health Systems Analysis

Graduate research assessing public health system design across national and international models — including an in-depth analysis of resource-constrained health systems and what their prevention-first, community-centered approaches teach about achieving outcomes with limited resources. This comparative lens anchors the firm's growing engagement with global health questions.

Care Integration

Primary Care & Public Health Integration

A national assessment of primary care practices integrated into public health models — synthesizing evidence across multiple sites and outlining the benefits of integration toward a framework with potential for national application.

Applied Practice

Federal Health Program Analytics

Over a decade of applied work in federal health environments — spanning Medicare and Medicaid program analytics, policy implementation research, epidemiological surveillance support, and change management for large-scale health initiatives.
